About Me

ABOUT ME

Born in Augusta, GA 1964, I am the youngest of six children. When attending high school, I was always eager for the bell to ring so I could run home and start a new art project. Drawing has been the inspiration of my desire to share the joy and reflections I see all around me, that has propelled me to be an Artist.

At the age of 15, I visited Michigan with my sister, Gerline, for the summer and during my stay, she noticed my artistic ability, so she purchased my 1st canvas and oil painting set.

When I returned home to Augusta, my mom and dad enrolled me in private art classes. This is where I learned to mix colors and develop new techniques that have become fundamental characteristics of my expression of art.

It was in high school, when I enrolled in my first professional instruction art class. This is where my art teacher, Ms. Jane Lewis, introduced me to a new way of drawing and pottery making. It was also during this time, I was introduced to the use of a pallet knife, which remains an intricate tool for my art creation.

I remember once reading a magazine and noticed a picture of a little boy sitting; as I looked closer, he reminded me of myself. This was my 1st oil painting. A year later, I entered an Art exhibit with this painting. It won 1st place in the State of Georgia two years in a row along with being displayed in the United States White House during the Presidency of Ronald Regan. This is when I fully embraced my love for oil painting. I was also involved in the drawing and painting of the Mascot in our high school hallway, what a proud moment for me and my family.

After graduating high school and attending college, I became a government certified welder and from there I spent a few years developing a career with other state and government welder jobs. At the age of 19, I started Cummings Cement Finishing (CCF) managing projects from Augusta, Atlanta to Savannah, GA at the Historic Preservation.

Not only was I an Artist on canvas, but an Artist with Concrete and welding. Art is my passion, on canvas and concrete for life.
